PACKED PROGRAM SET FOR 2015 BATHURST MOTOR FESTIVAL
THE FULL race program for the 2015 Bathurst Motor Festival has been confirmed.Once again a bumper line up of seven categories representing a broad cross-section of Australian Motorsport’s past and present will take to Mount Panorama across the Easter long weekend next year.The debut of the Heritage Touring Cars at the Motor Festival will likely attract plenty of interest, category organisers have already confirmed they have secured a full grid of 55-cars from the classic Group C and A eras of Australian Touring Car Racing.Seven categories will tackle Mount Panorama across the Easter 2015 long weekend.Event Director James O’Brien said that the Motor Festival was continually assessing the race program year-on-year.”We are pleased to continue to give opportunities to categories who otherwise might not get to ever compete at Mount Panorama,” he said.”We look at the program each year and for 2015 have been able to accommodate several racing categories who had expressed an interest in competing at the Event.”The addition of the Heritage Touring Cars has already generated significant interest and their category management is telling us to expect a full grid, which should be a very impressive sight. We are pleased to welcome Saloon Cars back to the program and expand the Production Sports and Production Touring car fields to run more longer-distance races.”The Bathurst Motor Festival has established itself in Bathurst each Easter and we are confident that the 2015 running will be another great weekend.”Cars like the famous Nissan GT-R ‘Godzilla’, Group C & A Holden Commodores, Ford Sierra’s and more will tackle a series of races across the 3-5 April weekend next year.The category will give current-day race fans a taste of what racing at Bathurst used to be during the 1960s, 70s, 80s and early 1990s.The Heritage Touring Cars won’t be the only ones offering a glimpse of what it used to be at Bathurst with the regular fan-favourites from the Group N Historic Touring Cars also set to return with a wild array of Mustangs, Camaros and more.Current-specification sports and production cars will again feature with full grids expected from the returning NSW Production Touring Car and Production Sports Car categories. Production Touring features high-performance cars that consumers can buy to drive on the road like Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions and HSV Holden Commodores, amongst a diverse field.The Production Sports Car Series will pit Porsche, Audi, Ferrari and a host of high-speed exotics’ against Mount Panorama in their return following a stunning weekend of racing at the Motor Festival this year.The 2014 Production Sports Car field included several Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour teams and drivers, Carrera Cup stars and even the occasional V8 Supercar star all seeking laps at Bathurst.Production Sports Cars and the New South Wales Production Touring Cars will tackle a one-hour race each on the Saturday and Sunday of the 2015 Bathurst Motor Festival.Bathurst’s classic Ford-Holden battle will be showcased with the return of Saloon Cars to the Mountain next Easter, the six-cylinder battle always entertaining. Category management reports that competitors are champing at the bit to return to Bathurst after several years away.After having provided massive grids for regularity competition across the past several years, the New South Wales Road Racing Club will change tack in 2015 by providing a race category of ‘combined sedans’ for the first time.The Porsche Club of New South Wales will also return with a regularity filled with stunning examples of the famous German marque.The 2015 Bathurst Motor Festival will be held over the Easter Long weekend (April 3-5) and features three days of affordable on and off track excitement at the famous Mount Panorama circuit.
