SIX HOUR ENTRY CRACKS 60 CARS AS NEW MODELS ADDED TO ELIGBILITY LIST

SIXTY-FOUR cars now feature on the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour entry list as Bathurst’s newest enduro moves into record-setting territory. A continued steady flow of entries has seen those confirmed to compete now just eight short of the 72-car grid capacity allowed at the 6.213km Mount Panorama circuit.According to Bathurst records, 64 cars qualified for the 1969 Hardie Ferodo 500 on the Mountain, with 63 actually starting the race – won that year by Colin Bond and Tony Roberts in a Holden Monaro GTS.Though several Bathurst 500 / 1000 races reached or just eclipsed the 60 car mark thereafter, should 64 start the Bathurst 6 Hour next year it is likely to be an all-time record for Mount Panorama and endurance racing in Australia.Additionally, requests from potential entrants have encouraged event organisers to update the vehicle eligibility list to include the Ford Mustang GT, which is now able to compete in the invitational class.Immensely popular since going on sale in Australia as an official Ford model earlier this year, the new-generation Mustang is yet to race competitively in Australia however several competitors have shown an interest in entering the race.”There has been demand for the Ford Mustang to be included on the eligibility list and we know of at least one team advanced in their plans to enter one in the race,” said Event Director James O’Brien.”Regardless, it is likely the car is going to be a popular addition to Production Car racing in the near future and we expect to see several of them on the grid.”We are now at a point where teams who are planning to race but have not entered need to seriously consider lodging their official entry as soon as possible because we are close to reaching capacity.”The updated entry list includes 22 cars in Class A1/A2 and a further 14 in class B1/B2 – the categories expected to provide the outright winner. The latest outright contender is likely to be the Ford Focus RS to be entered by the defending six-hour champions from this year. Cars from Audi, BMW, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz and HSV are also likely to be a factor in the outright fight.Eight cars feature in Class C (Performance) and while Class D (Production) has now reached double figures with 10 entries – six of them the popular Toyota 86 coupe.Class E includes the factory-supported MG effort, while the Invitational class now stands at 7 cars. The 64-car entry currently list includes 14 different manufacturers, while entries close for the race on 10 March 2017.ENTRY LIST – 12 DECEMBER 2016ClassCompetitor MakeModelA1Adam WallisMitsubishiLancer EVO X RSA1Alan EastMitsubishiLancer EVO IX GSRA1Anthony AlfordAudiTTRS 8JA1Barry MorcomFordFocus RS LZA1Dylan ThomasMitsubishiLancer EVO IX RSA1Dylan ThomasMitsubishiLancer EVO X RSA1Dylan ThomasMitsubishiLancer EVO IX RSA1Glossop Tyre CentreSubaruImpreza WRX Sti V-1A1Jeremy GrayFordFGII GT-FA1Jim PollicinaMitsubishiLancer EVO X RSA1Jim PollicinaMitsubishiLancer EVO X RSA1Peter ConroyMitsubishiLancer EVO X RSA1Peter MajorMitsubishiLancer EVO X RSA1Robert WoodsMercedes BenzA45 AMGA1Roderick SalmonMitsubishiLancer EVO X RSA1Ronald SearleMercedes BenzA45 AMGA1Simon HodgesBMWM135i Hatch F20A1Tony AbelaSubaruImpreza WRX Sti G-4A1MPCMitsubishiLancer EVO X RS Daniel FlanaganHoldenVY2-HSV GTSA2A2Graeme MuirHoldenVE-HSV GTSA2Trevor SymondsHoldenVY-HSV GTS Adrian StefanBMW335i E92B1B1Barry MorcomBMW335i E92B1Ben KavichSubaruImpreza WRX Sti G-2B1Brett McFarlandSubaruImpreza WRX Sti G-2B1Garry MennellBMW335i E92B1Sherrin RacingBMW135i E82B1ASAP RacingBMW135i E82 Anthony SooleBMWM3 E36 3.2LB2B2Daniel CliftHoldenVZ SSB2Dean PottsHoldenHSV R8 ClubsportB2Garth WaldenHoldenVE SSV-RedlineB2Joe KrinelosHoldenVF SSV Redline (6.2)B2Scott SullivanHoldenVY SSB2Troy WilliamsHoldenVE SSV-Redline Blake AubinRenaultMegane RS 265CCColin OsborneRenaultMegane RS 265 Trophy RCColin OsborneRenaultMegane RS 265 Trophy RCDavid RaddatzAlfa RomeoGulietta QVCDoug WestwoodBMWM3 E36 3.0LCNicholas CoxBMW130i E87CPeter O’DonnellBMW130i E87CRic ShawMazdaRX-8 RX8A    DChris ReevesToyota86 GTS ZN SERDChristopher ManleyToyota86 GTS ZN SERDDaniel WilliamsToyotaCamryDDavid BakerHondaIntegra Type RDDavid CroweToyota86 GTS ZN SERDDeclan KirkhamMazdaMX6 GE 2.5DGraeme HeathToyota86 GTS ZN SERDGrant PhillipsToyota86 GTS ZN SERDJames VernonToyota86 GTS ZN SERDTrevor KeeneMiniCooper S JCW R53 David WhiteheadMGMG6 1.8TCi MagnetteEEJordan CoxNissanPulsar N15EPhilip KirkhamEunos30X Ashley JarvisFordFalcon AUIIBradley CarrFordFalcon AUIColeby CowhamFordFalcon AUIJohn McClevertyFordFalcon AUILuke AndersenFordFalcon AUIScott StephensonHyundaiExcel X3IWarren TrewinHoldenCommodore VT
