PERKINS IN DEFENDING WINNING BMW

JACK PERKINS is a last-minute addition to the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 hour grid, joining Leigh Burges in the 2016 race-winning BMW 335i Turbo.Perkins replaces Warren Luff, who was originally slated to drive the car however was forced to withdraw from the drive due to work clashes elsewhere.Burges raced the car with Matthew Brabham in the final round of the 2016 Australian Production Car Series, finishing second in class.Perkins is new to Production Cars, however last weekend won the opening round of the Australian Sports Sedan series. The Supercars race winner will race this weekend in the Super2 series in Tasmania. The car will be part of a two-car squad from the DPO-supported outfit, Perkins and Burges joining the defending winners Nathan Morcom and Chaz Mostert in their brand-new Ford Focus RS.”Our main goal is to get both cars on the podium and to also defend the title,” said Morcom, who thanked long-time team supporters Direct Plasterboard Outlet, Rondo and new supporters Supercheap Auto and WM Waste Management Services.”We have been very pleased to welcome aboard Supercheap Auto and WM Waste Management for the 2017 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour and to deliver for them would be very satisfying. I’m really stoked to have a national business like themselves jump abroad with our program for this year’s race and can’t wait to show them how professional our two car team is with the Direct Plasterboard Outlet guys!”The Ford Focus is a new current-spec car, and we looked at all the specs and decided it will deliver when it comes to power. As an all-wheel-drive car, it will be a Class A car for our campaign this year also, as opposed to the BMW which as a rear wheel entry is categorised in Class B.”I think it will be a benefit and a bonus for Chaz and I in every aspect to be able to take this new car – which recently had its first shakedown – to the Mountain.”We have big expectations as a team for this event. There is nothing wrong with the BMW – it has great horsepower down the straights and is the reigning event winning car, so Jack and Leigh should be able to wage a very strong campaign.”Meanwhile for Chaz and I, the Focus has good power out of the corners and combined with its strength down the long straights, it really is a perfect car for the Bathurst track.”We have certainly piled a lot of resources into building the Focus RS and we are looking to see its competitive debut deliver.”The two Team Direct Plasterboard Outlet entries will be part of a 66-car strong entry list for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
