SHERRIN BMW INTO THE 25s IN PRACTICE 3

STUNNING PACE has highlighted the final practice session ahead of qualifying for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour at Mount Panorama.Crisp, cool conditions helped to push lap times well beneath record territory, Grant Sherrin storming to the top of the charts in the Sherrin Rentals BMW M4 with a stunning 2m25.664s effort late in a red-flag interrupted 40-minute session.RESULTS: Practice 3. That time was 1.2 seconds quicker than the fastest time in last year’s entire event and the first into the 25s in the current era for Production Cars at Mount Panorama.Tim Slade pushed the CXC Global Racing Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X RS to second, 0.4s behind the Sherrin BMW with a 2m26.157s.David Wall and John Bowe were third (2m26.437s) while Nathan Antunes pushed the AMG A45 he’ll share with Rod Salmon to fourth (2m26.571s).Mark Eddy showed the first real indication of pace from his Audi TTRS he’ll share with Tony Alford with a strong 2m27.338s that placed them fifth. Chaz Mostert and Nathan Morcom continued to creep up on the field in sixth in the sole Ford Focus RS.The Paul Morris / Luke Searle / Barry Graham’s BMW was seventh, Beric Lynton and Tim Leahey eighth in their 1M, Robert Woods, Duvashen Padayachee and Ben Porter ninth in the GWR A45 while Jack Perkins pushed the class B1 BMW 335i he’ll share with Leigh Burges into the top-10 with a strong 2m29.088.The Flanagan / Malouf HSV GTS topped A2 (2m31.935s), while the Holden VF SSV Redline of Krinelos / Virag / Loscialpo topped B2 with a 2m33.733s.Colin Osborne and Hadrian Morall were fastest in class C (2m38.874s), while Jimmy Vernon and Mark Caine topped class D in their Toyota 86 (2m39.609s).As they did yesterday, the Cowham / Kearns AU Falcon Saloon Car topped Class I, their 2m38.429s placing them 29th outright.The session was halted by two red flag interruptions, the first to remove the Stephenson Racing Hyundai Excel from the gravel trap at Hankook Murray’s Corner.The second was a longer delay to recover the Jed and Adam Wallis BMW 1M that made contact with the wall at Reid / Sulman Park.Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour Qualifying starts at 12:50pm with the bottom 50%, followed by a separate 30-minute session for the top 50% of the field soon afterwards.
