TEENAGERS PAIRING READY FOR B6HR
Teenage racers Jack Winter and Zac Raddatz will become one of the youngest driver combinations to ever tackle a Bathurst endurance race when they team up for Sunday’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.Each just 16 years old, Winter and Raddatz come to Mount Panorama with youthful speed and exuberance in spades.The pair will drive a Mitsubishi Evo IX, previously campaigned in the race by the CGR Performance stable, in the A1 (Extreme Performance Turbocharged) Class.While it will be the first appearance for Winter and Raddatz at Bathurst, they both have plenty of racing experience, including successful careers in karting and appearances in state-level categories.Winter has been one of the front-runners in the NSW Pulsar Racing Series, while Zac Raddatz has campaigned a Mazda 3 in the NSW Production Touring Car Championship, and also finished third outright in the Wakefield 300 endurance race in 2017.Last month, the duo competed in the Wakefield 300 aboard Winter’s Pulsar, finishing second in class and 10th outright.Raddatz, the son of accomplished Mazda MX5 racer David, is pumped for his first Bathurst appearance.”I’ve grown up watching dad racing at Bathurst, and I was keen to have my first crack at the Mountain as soon as I was allowed,” Raddatz said.”To be doing it in an outright car, and with one of my good friends Jack, is going to be so much fun and I can’t wait to hit the track.”Winter, whose recently purchased the Mitsubishi Evo from CGR Performance, is looking forward to learning about the new car.”It’s going to be a big step up from the Pulsar, in power and speed, and Bathurst will be a pretty daunting track to come to grips with it, but it will stand us in good stead for the rest of the year, in Production Touring,” Winter said.The car will be run with technical assistance from the CGR Performance team, along with the Raddatz-owned MX5 Mania operation.Practice commences this morning at 8:35am with live timing available via www.bathurst6hour.com.au
