ENTRIES for the 2019 HI-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour open on Monday, 3 September. The Bathurst 6 Hour will continue to operate under Group 3E Production Car regulations for production touring automobiles. Neither ‘sports’ nor ‘utility vehicles’ are eligible to compete.”We have been careful in the evolution of the regulations to ensure that those competitors who have already invested in vehicles for the Event are not disadvantaged,” Event Director James O’Brien said.”While we are aware of changes to other Production Car series, the Bathurst 6 Hour will continue to be for what can be described as a traditional ‘Production Cars’ and not those which also compete in various ‘Sports Car’ categories.”Minor changes to areas like the Balance of Performance options aim to maintain the level of competition and hopefully foster a compelling Race.”Competitors are encouraged to enter the Race early to ensure a grid spot and take advantage of the ‘early bird’ entry fee available until 31 October 2018.Seven classes will cater to a broad variety of vehicles with only minor changes in place for 2019.The invitational category is no longer included in the regulations while the Nissan Pulsar one-make racer moves from Class E to Class D.The remaining classes remain broadly similar with only minor changes to eligibility when compared to previous years – ensuring stability for those who have invested in vehicles with which to contest the Race.Other changes include the addition of MRF Tyres as the control tyre supplier for the first time.MRF have commenced an extensive development program ahead of their Bathurst debut next April, with the Indian brand already well advanced in their preparation for the Event.6 sets of new tyres are allowed per vehicle for use throughout practice, qualifying and the Race. The Race will again commence at 11:30am on Sunday, 21 April 2019, while information regarding the broadcasting and streaming coverage will be announced in due course.
