CLASS E CONTENDERS LAUNCH KIWI ATTACK

A KIWI-AUSSIE combo will join forces in an effort to add the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour to the list of major races won by New Zealanders this year.New Zealanders Chris Holdt and Alan Turner will team with Sydneysider Ross Donaldson in a bid to win the Compact Class (Class E) in this weekend’s six-hour classic.All three drivers will make their respective six-hour debuts this weekend driving the same model of car that won the race last year.”We’re running in Class E in a Mazda 3 SP23,” Holdt explained.”Our team consists of two of the three Kiwi drivers entered in the event. It’s our first time in the event this year but we’ve competed in the New Zealand Endurance Series for a number of years.”Holdt is an expat Kiwi who moved to Australia in 2012, currently competing in the Queensland Touring Car Championship driving a Larry Perkins replica Commodore.Holdt also has experience in the Pukekohe 6 Hour and North Island Endurance Series in his native New Zealand.Turner hails from Ashburton in the South Island and is a regular in the OSCA series in New Zealand, as well as pairing with Holdt in the Pukekohe enduro.5 members of the crew will travel from New Zealand for the event.The team, based on the Gold Coast, started their life in speedway racing before branching out into circuit racing.
