PRODUCTION CAR ‘TRAGICS’ READY FOR B6HR DEBUT

TWO ‘Production Car Tragics’ will live their Bathurst dreams by contesting the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour this weekend.Lea Medhurst and Chris Manley will race a BMW 130i supported by Traffic Control Innovations in the race this weekend, in the ultra-competitive Class C class battle. The pair of Queenslanders have long had the ambition of contesting a Bathurst enduro with the stars aligning for both this year.”Lea Medhurst and I are driving a BMW 130i, we are a couple of production car racing tragics,” Medhurst said.”Lea was lucky enough to get himself to Lakeside in the glories days instead of school and I just caught the last couple of years of Group A on the telly.”I’ve always dreamt of racing cars, mostly prod touring sort of thing, and I got a crack with Toyota’s 86 Racing Series. Learnt the ropes in a baptism of fire, didn’t make it far up the tree as the series was far more competitive than I or Toyota expected.”Lea invited me to pair with him for our crack at the 2018 QPC (Queensland Production Cars) championship, and we got up! Lea bought a ripper 86 from Chris Reeves at TZR and I brought everything I’d learnt in the 86 series. We kept it on the black top and got ourselves a championship on our first attempt!”Medhurst said the team was looking for nothing more than getting to the end of the often gruelling race this weekend.”Now we’re having a tilt at the 6 hour. We’re just here to have a great time with our families and mates, if we make the end that’ll be a result we’ll be very very proud of!”The Traffic Control Innovations BMW will carry a stunning bright livery this weekend and is unlikely to be missed on track.
