Pole-Sitting BMW Fastest in Warm-Up
The final twenty minute session before the 2024 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour has been completed, with the Bruce Lynton Service BMW M3 of Beric Lynton/Tim Leahey/Will Davison topping the timesheets.
Leahey set a 2m 24.9125s to go almost two and a half seconds quicker than the rest of the field in the car that will start on pole position later this morning after Will Davison set a new qualifying record yesterday afternoon.
Tom McLennan set the second fastest time of the session at a 2m 27.3181s in the McLennan Motorsport BMW M4 that will start from ninth outright in the race.
Third quickest was an impressive performance from Bathurst local Grant Denyer in the Game Over Ford Mustang Mach 1 that will be one of the key contenders in Class A2, setting a 2m 27.8335s as he and co-drivers Ryder and Tony Quinn look to go back-to-back.
The Class A2 Chevrolet Camaro was also quick in the morning warmup, a 2m 31.2233s placing the Statewide Oil entry of Chris Lillis/Josh Muggleton/Nathan Callaghan in fifth outright, before they start second in class and eighth outright in the race later this morning.
The session ran green for the duration of the twenty minutes, as all teams completed their final systems checks before the 6 Hour marathon without major incident.
