Bathurst legend to join Willmington Mustang campaign
Braydan Willmington Motorsports (BWMS) is thrilled to announce its return to Mount Panorama for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour endurance race this Easter long weekend, from April 18-20.
This year marks a significant milestone as the team fields its own entry, led by Braydan Willmington alongside esteemed co-drivers John Bowe and David Murphy.
The team has acquired a newly built Mustang GT, ready to take on one of Australia’s most iconic racing circuits. With a strong driver lineup and a purpose-built machine, BWMS is set to make an impact at this highly competitive endurance event.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Mount Panorama for my second Bathurst endurance race,” said Braydan Willmington.
“I’m excited to share the car with a long-time friend, John Bowe, who has had a lot of success at the mountain in a variety of cars and categories. As well as pairing up with Dave, who is another solid competitor in the historic touring car ranks with extensive experience in various race cars.”
“I’ve known Braydan since he was a little kid terrorising the pit area at Wakefield Park,” Bowe said.
“I love him and his family. Gaz was one of the most dedicated privateers when privateers were really exactly that! I’m so looking forward to racing at Bathurst for the 39th year in a row—with my friends!
“How time has flown, but my love and passion for racing is still as strong as ever! Dave has one of our famous DJR Falcons from the nineties. He is a ripper bloke and we are friends. He drives really well, so I’m excited by what we might experience!
“The Bathurst 6 Hour is one of the best events of the year, in my opinion—70 cars of way different spec, just like the old days! A true showroom showdown!”
Added Murphy: “To be around Garry and John, who I used to watch when I was a kid, is something very special. To get the opportunity to drive with these guys is incredible.
“Bathurst originally started as a production race with showroom cars, and that’s what we’re going back to. That’s where my love and passion for racing is.
“Over the last few years, I’ve learned a lot of racecraft with Eggleston Motorsport, and I think it’s going to be a good combination between John, Braydan and Myself.”
In addition to its strengthened driver lineup, BWMS is proud to welcome Scott Stephenson from Apogee Motorsport as the team manager.
Scott brings a wealth of experience from his time at Brabham Automotive and has successfully worked across multiple motorsport categories, including Hyundai Excels, Toyota 86s, and V8 Super Utes.
