57 enter 2026 Bathurst 6 Hour on record-smashing opening day of entries

A RECORD-smashing day has seen 57 entries lodged for the 2026 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour within six hours of official event entries opening this morning.

More than 30 nominations were received within the 90 minutes of entries opening with lodgements then continuing steadily throughout the day.

The event has been thrilled with the response from competitors – both existing and new to the event – to have lodged their entry forms so early.

It eclipses the 36 entries lodged on opening entry day ahead of the 2025 event – which ultimately went on to accrue 85 entries in total prior to the capacity 72-car field commencing the opening practice session.

Entries remain open until 16 January 2026 with the entry process allowing for more than the maximum grid capacity to be entered for the race.

Teams that do not make the initial 72-car cut will be invited to remain on a waiting list, in advance of any pre-event withdrawals which are a regular occurrence.

Once the final grid is settled prior to the event commencing next year, teams can continue to be on ‘hot standby’ and opt to attend in the event with the potential to compete should there be any withdrawals in the early practice sessions.

This process – which does require the approval of the Motorsport Australia Stewards at the event and can not occur following qualifying – was demonstrated this year with the late addition of a Ford Mustang – prepared and waiting in the wings – to the field following a post-practice withdrawal.

Tickets and camping for the event are on sale now, while the 2026 Support Race program will be announced soon with an exciting mix of both state and key national-level categories set to compete.
