#24 BMW withdrawn, reserve entry added to B6HR field.

THE #24 GWR Australia BMW M3 has been officially withdrawn from the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour following a heavy crash in practice three on Saturday morning.

Driver Michael Auld has been taken to Bathurst hospital for precautionary checks following the incident on Mountain Straight.

After assessing the damage, the team has been forced to withdraw the car which has extensive damage to the front and rear.

As a result, the #50 Ford Mustang will be activated as a reserve entry and will be driven in the race by Graeme Cheney, Jarrod Hughes and experienced racer, Tim Brook.

Cheney and Hughes are also competing in the Trico Trans Am Series round this weekend while Brook will be allowed to qualify the car, in the top 50% session scheduled for this afternoon.

Their entry is pending final approval from the Motorsport Australia stewards.

The #142 Honda Integra Type R driven by Shane Nowickyj – sharing with Rob Zoanetti and Michell McGarry – was also heavily damaged in the session.

The team will not withdraw, with mechanics already en-route to Sydney to secure new front chassis components for the car in a bid to rebuild for tomorrow.

The car will require stewards approval to compete on account of missing Qualifying.
