IPRA Bathurst Cup returns in 2027
One of Australia’s longest running forms of grass roots motorsport will descend on Mount Panorama again in 2027 when Improved Production returns to the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
The IPRA Bathurst Cup is the first confirmed support category for the coming edition of Bathurst’s Easter weekend of motorsport, to be held from March 26-28, 2027.
Expressions of interest for 55 sought-after spots on the Bathurst grid will open on Monday, August 24, 2026, with a diverse field of Improved Production cars expected to assemble from around Australia.
The IPRA Bathurst Cup was last held as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour in 2025.
South Australian driver Adam Poole clean swept the event in his Holden Monaro, winning all three races outright and the IPRA Bathurst Cup overall, while Matthew Birks from New South Wales took out the Under 2 Litre division aboard his potent 1987 Toyota Corolla.
Entry fees for the IPRA Bathurst Cup are $3,500 including one practice session, one qualifying session, four races on the Mount Panorama circuit and a competitor marquee allocation. Competitors must hold a full Motorsport Australia Circuit Race Licence to participate.
Terry Denovan, owner of event promoter Motor Racing Australia, will manage expressions of interest, entries and other event logistics for the 2027 IPRA Bathurst Cup.
Brett Watters
IPRA (Improved Production Racing Association) Australia National Administrator
“Improved Production has built a terrific relationship with the Bathurst 6 Hour promoters, ARG, over recent years,” Watters said.
“We bring a huge and diverse grid to Bathurst, and our competitors consistently put on a fantastic show for spectators at the circuit and those watching across Australia through television and live streaming.
“Mount Panorama is one of the most challenging and respected circuits in the country. The opportunity to race there is something our competitors value enormously, and we expect interest in the 2027 event to be extremely strong.”
Sally Parkinson
Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour Event Manager
“We are delighted to have the IPRA Bathurst Cup returning to the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour in 2027,” Parkinson said.
“In both 2025 and also 2024, the IPRA category management and competitors were well organised, passionate and a pleasure to work with.”
“As one of Australia’s strongest grass roots motorsport categories, IPRA is an ideal fit with the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour and we look forward to the category producing more great racing at Mount Panorama.”
