SHERRINS READY TO FIGHT WITH NEW M4
The championship-winning Sherrin Racing team will begin a new era in the Australian Production Cars at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, when they debut their new BMW M4.After taking out the Class B Australian Production Cars championship for the third year running last year – one year on from also taking out the outright title – Sherrin Racing will make their move to Class A for the first time with their new car.The Sherrin’s M4 features amongst a 66-car entry list for this year’s race, released earlier this week here.The car will be campaigned by brothers Grant and Iain Sherrin, who previously ran the title winning #18 Sherrin Racing BMW135i alongside the #19 Sherrin Racing BMW135i sister car. The #19 was contested by family patriarch Michael Sherrin and family friend David Ayres, taking out second place in the Class B championship for the last three years running.”The two Sherrin Racing BMW135is were no doubt still successful, but we were keen to give ourselves a makeover and make our move to Class A,” Michael Sherrin said.”After taking an extensive look at the other makes, we chose to stay with BMW and in doing so, the obvious choice was to go with the M4.”My sons Grant and Iain – the reigning Class B champions and the 2015 outright champs – will be driving the M4 at all rounds of the APC this year, kicking off with the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.”We have sold the championship-winning #18, and David Ayres and I may do a round here or there in the #19 Sherrin Racing BMW135i, but I will be spending most of my time managing the team across 2017.”Iain, David and I found ourselves on the podium of last year’s inaugural Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, so we are pretty confident that with our new weapon we can find ourselves there again – it is safe to say we will be doing all we can to make sure that happens!”The Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour across April 14-16 doubles as the first round of a six-event calendar for the 2017 Australian Production Cars.
