Full Gas back for B6HR attack
NSW motor-racing champions and Australian Production Car Series pilots Dimitri Agathos, Lachlan Gibbons and their FullGas Racing outfit will reunite for their second start in the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour on the Easter long weekend.The team’s Nova Employment/Castrol/Whiteline/All Drive Subaroo/Hog’s Breath Café North Parramatta & Castle Hill Subaru WRX STI was brand-new at last year’s 6 Hour, but 12 months’ development has given both drivers confidence of improving on the 15th-place finish they scored in 2017.”We’ve made a big step forward compared to last year, especially with engine performance,” Agathos said.”We found some significant improvements in both power and reliability, both of which are important ingredients for a long race at Bathurst.””The setup has been vastly improved – last year, we made tweaks at every round of the APCS which enhanced the handling,” Gibbons added.”There is still room to make things better, but now we’re chasing incremental gains.”The long races in the APCS were the ideal environment for the team to learn things like pit stop processes, and we’ll be looking to carry that knowledge into the 6 Hour.”The FullGas team finished second in the final race of the 2017 APCS at Wakefield Park, and both drivers have state titles under their belts – Agathos won the highly-competitive Australian Pulsar Racing Association Series in 2015 and ’16, while Gibbons was last year’s NSW Formula Ford Champion.”In terms of how we’re matched as drivers, I think we’re one of the strongest combinations in the field because of how we complement each other,” Gibbons said.”Dimitri is a gun qualifier and has a really good natural feel for the car – he’s brilliant at extracting the absolute maximum performance over one lap.”Lachlan is fast, but he’s also very analytical – one of his strengths is his ability to analyse data and provide car setup feedback to the team,” Agathos added.”We also both love the wet, and low-grip conditions play to the advantages of the WRX – it’s not the quickest in a straight line, but it has very predictable handling which makes it a very strong package in the rain, as we showed at Phillip Island last year.”We certainly won’t be complaining if it’s wet for the 6 Hour, that’s for sure!”
