Bathurst 6 Hour Team Reveals Tribute to Wounded Heroes

A team competing in this year’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour has revealed a spectacular livery promoting Wounded Heroes, a volunteer organisation providing valuable support services to the men and women of the Australian Defence Force. The Wounded Heroes Racing HSV Clubsport R8 will be driven by Scott Cameron and Warren Trewin, and the team’s Bathurst 6 Hour campaign is aimed at generating awareness for the non-profit foundation, which provides front-line support to Australian servicemen and women, and their families.Founded in 2007, Wounded Heroes oversees the operation of a number of programs and facilities for those injured in the line of duty, including a recovery program for injured soldiers, soldier recovery centres for the rehabilitation of wounded personnel, and assistance for families of wounded servicemen and women, including counselling and domestic assistance.Wounded Heroes also provides support services for families of servicemen and women in operation overseas, such as social engagement and hardship relief.Cameron and Trewin are best known for their exploits in HQ Holdens but have more recently diversified into other forms of racing; they competed in the invitational class at last year’s Bathurst 6 Hour in a six-cylinder Commodore (scoring a class podium) and Cameron also participated in several rounds of last year’s V8 Ute Racing Series. Both drivers are enthusiastic about supporting such a patriotic cause through an activity they love.”Wounded Heroes receives no government funding; they rely entirely on public and corporate donations to provide their support services to military personnel, especially in the veteran community,” Cameron said.”Racing at an event like the Bathurst 6 Hour, which has a high level of exposure, is a way of generating publicity for Wounded Heroes – the recent announcement of live FOX Sports coverage for the race is an added bonus,” Trewin added.Wounded Heroes CEO Martin Shaw said the organisation was thrilled to be affiliated with the team.”What the drivers and team have given us, with full naming-rights signage on the car, is magnificent,” Shaw said.”The opportunity to expose our charity to the masses is extremely valuable, and the team has also been very pro-active in off-track promotions; they have created a special poster which spectators will be able to collect at the track.”The HSV Clubsport R8 will compete in Class A2, and will also be supported by a number of corporate groups including Little Real Estate, owned by entrepreneur Paul Little who formerly sponsored the Holden Racing Team through his Toll freight business, along with DPO Direct Plaster Board Outlets, Mulgoa Quarries, Brimarco, Hafele, Piermont Group, Tullys, Expert Earth, Premier Builders Group and CTFD Group.
