Driver changes add more star power to Bathurst 6 Hour field

TWO rising stars of the Supercars world will add even more competition to the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour field this weekend amidst several last-minute driver additions to the grid confirmed today.

Super3 series champion Broc Feeney and Sandown podium finisher Brodie Kostecki will add even more depth to an already hugely competitive field ahead of the Easter Sunday enduro.

Tickets, camping and corporate tickets remain on sale for the 2021 event now – just click the links to purchase online.

Kostecki will join George Miedecke and long-time mentor Paul Morris in the formers Ford Mustang GT Coupe this weekend.

The Erebus Motorsport driver starred in last year’s Bathurst 1000 and also impressed in the Supercars season opener held at Mount Panorama earlier this year.

His addition to the Class A2 (Extreme Performance, Normally Aspirated) entry adds flexibility to the team, which is shaping as one of the strongest overall combinations.

Miedecke, who hails from Port Macquarie and runs a successful series of car dealerships in the region, has secured a spare road-going Mustang to drive this weekend and to have on site in case the team needs spare parts during the weekend.

Meanwhile, Triple Eight Super2 star and former Super3 series champion Broc Feeney will join the JMG Racing Ford team this weekend, replacing original co-driver Jeff Hume.

Hume was due to drive the Ford Falcon GTF alongside regular 6-hour contender Jeremy Gray and Stephen Robinson, however was forced to withdraw on account of being Brisbane-based.

Feeney will join his Triple Eight Super2 teammate Angelo Mouzouris on the grid; the latter already entered in the Bloomfield Capital Racing BMW M1 alongside Jesse Bryan and Cody Donald.

Feeney’s father, Paul, was a champion two-wheeled racer and counts victories at Mount Panorama on his extensive racing CV.

Earlier this week, former Touring Car privateer Cameron McLean was added to the Hall Finance & Insurance Ford Mustang GT team, the veteran of 12 Bathurst 1000 starts to join young-gun Bayley Hall and Steve Hay this weekend.

Meanwhile, VHT S5000 Australian Drivers Championship competitor Antonio Astuti will join Michael James and Porsche young-gun Ryan Suhle in the US Customs-backed HSV GTS in Class A2.

Unfortunately, the Brisbane-based Grand Prix Mazda team of Jake Camilleri and Scott Nicholas has been forced to withdraw from the event as a consequence of the current lockdown in Queensland.

They are the only team to have withdrawn from the race ahead of pre-event scrutineering commencing today at Mount Panorama. Practice is set to commence on Friday morning. All the action will be broadcast live and free on the screens of Seven this weekend.
