300+ cars to feature in epic Hi-Tec Oils 6 Hour event week

MORE than 300 cars will compete against each other and Mount Panorama as a blockbuster Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour Easter Long Weekend draws near.

A total of 318 entries have been received across the 6-Hour itself and the six support categories that will entertain across the three days of the event this year.

It’s estimated that the competitors alone will bring more than 2,200 people into the Bathurst region this weekend via friends, family, support crews and more.

As well as the 61 cars entered for Bathurst’s Biggest Enduro, the support races are set to be incredibly competitive this weekend.

Fans of one-make racing will be well catered for with bumper grids in the HQ Holden’s, Hyundai Excels and Nissan Pulsar series this weekend.

The Excels in particular head to Bathurst with plenty on the line as they battle in the opening round of the CERA Dunlop Destiny Series, a three-event series created to give young rising stars of the sport a national platform to showcase their talent in the ever-growing one make category.

The opening round of the Australian Formula Ford Series has drawn a strong 20-car grid, returning the popular open wheel class to the Mountain for the first time in years.

While the Formula Ford 1600 and Historic cars have competed on the iconic circuit regularly in recent years, it’s the first national series round to be held in Bathurst since 2012.

That year’s grid included current Supercars drivers Jack le Brocq, Macauley Jones and Anton de Pasquale – plus current Bathurst 12 Hour winner, Matt Campbell.

A huge grid in the Revolution Racegear Improved Production class features an incredibly diverse array of cars from across the country.

Meanwhile, the Bathurst debut of the brand-new Supermini Challenge has attracted a stout grid of 23 cars – all of them Mini Cooper or Mini Challenge cars of varying levels of modification.

The series, which originated in Queensland, has grown in popularity of late and their Bathurst grid includes a Bathurst 1000 starter: Supercheap Auto wildcard racer Zane Goddard.

Support race action commences on Friday with an array of practice and qualifying sessions, before racing commences on Saturday.

Every category will receive at least one race on broadcast television on Saturday afternoon with the Fox Sports and Kayo coverage commencing at midday, and SBS from 1pm AEDT.
