Bathurst 6 Hour building as champions return, records in sight

A RECORD field is on the cards for the 2025 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, which will be contested this Easter long weekend – and the defending champions are confirmed to be back on the grid.

Simon Hodges, Jayden Ojeda and George Miedecke are locked in among what is shaping as a capacity, 72-car grid for this year’s edition of the Production Car classic.

The event currently has 72 confirmed entries, with six currently sitting on a reserve list should any cars currently locked into the race elect to withdraw. More than 80 entries were lodged in total this year, the third time that has occurred in event history.

Should the Mount Panorama grid density start this year, it will be the first time in Bathurst history 70 or more cars will have started an endurance race on the iconic Mount Panorama circuit.

The Bathurst 6 Hour currently holds the record for the largest ever Bathurst enduro race grid, 64 cars, set in 2017.

The Secure Wealth Advisors BMW team were among the first to commit to their return this year, having remarkably claimed the last two editions of the race and both in dramatic fashion.

The team has locked in their bid for a rare Bathurst three-peat this year with the same winning combination as 2024.

While Hodges and Ojeda claimed both the 2023 and 2024 editions, Miedecke joined the program last year to claim his first win in a Bathurst major.

It kicked off a strong year for the Port Macquarie-based driver who also enjoyed a successful debut year in the Monochrome GT4 Australia Championship, sharing a Ford Mustang GT4 with young-gun Rylan Gray.

Ojeda, meanwhile, went on to join the factory Mercedes-AMG driver roster following a strong year in domestic GT racing.

As well as another bumper field, the ninth running of the annual Easter Enduro for Production Cars will see a shift to control Hankook Tyres this year in the first of a new, multi-year agreement with the Korean tyre manufacturer.

An exciting broadcast package, the full entry list and further details surrounding the 2025 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour grid will be announced in due course.

GEORGE MIEDECKE – Driver, defending Bathurst 6 Hour winner

“It didn’t take long for Simon, Jayden and I to agree to put plans in place to come back and defend our win,” Miedecke said.

“We had such a good time last year and the opportunity for Simon and Jayden to chase three in a row at Bathurst is something none of us could pass up.

“It’s such an enjoyable race and weekend to be part of and we are all looking forward to coming back and having that rare opportunity to challenge for a Bathurst enduro three-peat.

“We have big plans for the livery and sponsorship on the car and we’ll be showing off those details closer to the event.”

CHARISE BRISTOW – Bathurst 6 Hour Category Administrator

“Once again reaction to the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour has been outstanding to the point where we have an active reserve list this year,” Bristow said.

“At this point, the grid is at the maximum track density of 72 cars, and several remain on the standby list in case of any withdrawals in the lead-up.

“The field is a great mix of cars across all of the eligible classes and this year several new cars look to be joining the grid, along with some familiar favorites.

“Along with ensuring we put on a quality and professional race, we are ambitiously working towards putting the biggest ever grid onto Mount Panorama this year and at this point we are on track to do that.”
