The Bathurst 6 Hour grid – once again at its absolute capacity of 72 cars – will enjoy added track time this year with four practice sessions on Friday for the first time this year.
That includes a split session on Friday, where Class B1, B2, C, D and E class cars will have their own 40 minutes of running first, to be followed by a further 40 minutes to include the quickest class X, A1 and A2 cars.
All classes are then combined for the next two one-hour sessions on Friday, before a further 40-minutes systems check on Saturday prior to the two-part qualifying.
Qualifying 1 will see the lower half of the grid set while the battle for pole is likely to follow in the second, 20-minute qualifying two.
The 6 Hour itself is set for a 11:15 am race start on Easter Sunday, given the ending of Daylight Savings in the early hours of race day morning.
The strong support program includes action from the Trans Am series, Battery World Aussie Racing Cars, the Australian Saloon Car Nationals, Super TT and Circuit Excels.
The opening round of the Trans Am championship will see practice and qualifying on Friday ahead of two, 30-minute races on Saturday before a final 30-minute sprint serves as the curtain-raiser to the 6 Hour itself on Sunday.
The Aussie Racing Cars will race four times, while the Saloon Cars, Excels and Super TT each race three times across the weekend – with the national Saloon Car champion to be the first crowned on Sunday morning.
Huge fields are expected across all supports across the April 3-5 event.
The capacity entry list for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will be revealed this week, as will a record-breaking TV package that will see live coverage on Saturday and Sunday of the event.
